Founded in Montréal in 1933, CIPH is a pan-Canadian not-for-profit trade association that proudly represents the following membership categories from across the plumbing & heating industry:

• Associate Services, Buying Groups, Educational Institutions, Manufacturers, Manufacturers’ Agents, Master Distributors & Wholesaler Distributors.

CIPH was established in Montréal in 1933, when founding members recognized the need to lobby the Government of Canada to amend the Dominion Housing Act in order to encourage renovation and housing starts. While individual voices did not hold much sway, together they formed a powerful force for change, laying the foundation for CIPH as the indispensable voice for Canada’s plumbing and heating community.

On February 8, 1933, CIPH was officially incorporated. Ivan Leger of James Robertson Company was appointed the first President of the Institute. The nine founding members left a legacy of purpose and commitment that continues to this day, and their union reinforces how working together drives progress for people and the profession
