Stratus has released its 2025 State of the MEP Industry Report, highlighting how mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) contractors are balancing steady demand with rising material costs, labor shortages, and increasing execution pressure. Based on insights from over 140 construction executives, the report reveals that digitally connected firms are outperforming those with fragmented workflows. Key findings include a 4.5% median revenue growth, worsening labor constraints—especially in fabrication and field roles—and material cost increases averaging 8%, putting pressure on margins. As fabrication evolves into a key coordination hub between design, procurement, and installation, contractors cite limited operational visibility as a challenge, with fewer than 30% tracking productivity across VDC, shop throughput, or logistics. Looking forward to 2026, two-thirds of contractors plan to invest in software, automation, and model-based tools, with AI and digital field solutions leading the charge.
