The Canadian Galvanizing Institute (CGI-IGC) is committed to serving as the national voice and collaborative hub for advancing galvanizing excellence in Canada. Through partnerships with galvanizers, fabricators, key suppliers, the design community, asset owners, government, academia, and public institutions, the Institute will foster research, development, and innovation in corrosion protection, coating performance, and hybrid protection systems.
The national, bilingual, non-profit organization was established to address a critical gap within Canada’s infrastructure and construction ecosystem. CGI-IGC is committed to advancing durable, low-carbon solutions that utilize galvanized steel, thereby supporting Canada’s sustainability and climate objectives.
The Institute will provide leadership in industry development, equipping Canadian galvanizers, fabricators, and engineers with cutting-edge technical guidance, best practice case studies, and practical tools and resources. CGI-IGC will serve as the trusted link for all stakeholders to connect, share expertise, and collaborate.
The Institute will play a leading role in Canadian public-sector advocacy by supporting evidence-based procurement policies and infrastructure investment strategies. With robust data and expertise on the benefits of galvanized steel, CGI-IGC will help shape policies that strengthen durability, reduce carbon impact, and enhance long-term value for Canadian infrastructure.
CGI-IGC will provide leadership to Canadian galvanizers in advancing sustainability by developing and publishing Canadian Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs). The Institute will also work to ensure alignment with Canadian-specific guides, codes, and standards for galvanized steel.
