RONA Rookies Program to Support 150 Minor Hockey Teams Across Canada

RONA inc. has selected 150 minor hockey teams to participate in the third edition of its RONA Rookies program, providing financial support and team resources to help make hockey more accessible for young players across Canada.

The 2026–2027 program will support teams that include children and grandchildren of members of RONA’s network. Each selected team will receive a $3,000 sponsorship package designed to help offset some of the costs associated with participating in minor hockey.

RONA operates and services more than 425 corporate and affiliated home improvement stores across Canada.

Supporting Minor Hockey in Canadian Communities

Launched in fall 2024, the RONA Rookies program was created to support families and young people while strengthening RONA’s connection with the communities where it operates.

Minor hockey can involve expenses extending beyond registration and equipment, including tournaments, travel, team activities and apparel. Through the program, RONA is providing selected teams with resources that can help support their activities throughout the season.

The initiative is available to young hockey players between the ages of four and 17.

“Hockey has deep roots in Canada’s communities,” said Catherine Laporte, Chief Digital and Marketing Officer at RONA inc., noting that the sport helps connect generations and build relationships within communities.

Laporte said the program is intended to support the families and communities that help young players participate in hockey across the country.

Each Team Receives a $3,000 Sponsorship

The 150 teams selected for the 2026–2027 RONA Rookies program will each receive a sponsorship package valued at $3,000.

The package includes a $1,000 grant that teams can use toward tournament participation or other team activities. Selected teams will also receive apparel featuring their team logo and the RONA logo, along with fan accessories designed to support team spirit.

With 150 teams participating, the third edition extends the program’s reach to minor hockey players, families and communities across Canada.

Building Connections Through Community Sport

RONA says the Rookies program reflects the company’s longstanding interest in hockey and its broader commitment to supporting Canadian communities.

Community sports programs can provide opportunities for young people to develop skills, build friendships and participate in team environments while connecting families and volunteers around shared activities.

By directing its support toward minor hockey teams associated with members of its network, RONA is also connecting its community investment with employees and families throughout the organization.

The program enters its third edition after first launching in 2024.

2026–2027 RONA Rookies Teams Selected

The complete list of the 150 minor hockey teams selected for the 2026–2027 RONA Rookies program is available through RONA.

The sponsorships will provide participating teams with financial assistance and additional resources as they take part in the upcoming hockey season.
