RONA Inc. has appointed Alain Ménard as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2026, as the Canadian home improvement retailer prepares for its next phase of growth.
Ménard will succeed J.P. Towner, who has accepted a new position as Senior Advisor with Sycamore Partners, RONA’s owner. Towner will also join RONA’s Board of Directors.
The two executives will continue working together during the transition to maintain momentum and support the company’s strategic priorities.
During Towner’s three years leading RONA, the company consolidated three banners under a single brand while expanding several areas of its business.
According to RONA, the company achieved significant growth in its PRO and digital businesses, increased the proportion of sales generated through private brands, introduced shop-in-shop concepts with national brands and recruited additional affiliated dealers.
RONA also focused on productivity improvements and developing a more agile operating culture.
In his new role, Towner will work with Sycamore Partners on RONA’s strategy and provide guidance on key priorities and business decisions.
Ménard joined RONA in January 2024 as Senior Vice-President, RONA Affiliated Dealers, giving him direct experience with the company’s dealer network, operations and corporate culture.
As CEO, Ménard said his priorities will include advancing RONA’s strategy, supporting employees, serving customers and strengthening both its corporate-store operations and affiliated dealer network.
The leadership transition comes as RONA continues developing its position within Canada’s home improvement and building materials sector, including its business serving professional contractors.
