Trillium Health Partners (THP) has reached a significant construction milestone with the first concrete pour for The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital and Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children, one of Canada’s largest and most digitally connected hospital redevelopment projects. One year after groundbreaking, construction remains on schedule and on budget, with excavation more than 78% complete, seven tower cranes onsite, and foundation work now underway. Designed to transform healthcare delivery, the new hospital campus will integrate hospital, primary, community, virtual, and long-term care services to improve access, reduce wait times, and provide more specialized care for Mississauga’s growing population. The redevelopment will include more than 350 fully private patient beds, 26 operating rooms (12 new and 14 enhanced), Ontario’s largest 24/7 emergency department, and one of the province’s largest neonatal intensive care units. Delivered through ED+PCL Healthcare Partners, with EllisDon and PCL Construction, the project represents a major investment in modern healthcare infrastructure and digital innovation that will serve more than two million residents across the region for generations to come.
