At a major Burnaby condo development by Onni Group, WorkSafeBC has imposed fines due to construction debris falls that posed serious risks. CapWest Forming Ltd. was fined for an incident where a shoring post fell from the 62nd to the 6th level. In another case, A. Carrillo & Bros Concrete Ltd. was fined after plywood fell from the 62nd level, with one piece landing on a public crosswalk. These incidents, which occurred amid a large workforce, highlighted significant safety oversights and led to a temporary halt of certain construction activities. Both companies are appealing the penalties.
