U of T Engineering study highlights the tension between Canada’s climate and housing goals

A U of T Engineering study highlights that Canada’s current construction practices will prevent it from meeting both housing and emissions targets. The construction sector, responsible for 90 megatonnes of CO2 in 2018, needs to triple housing rates by 2030 while reducing emissions by 83% per home. The study emphasizes the necessity for innovative approaches in urban design and construction to reconcile housing demands with climate goals, aiming for a sustainable built environment.
