National Construction Day
November 3, 2020

Today is National Construction Day – Let’s celebrate our great industry

Today marks the second annual national celebration day of the construction industry.

In collaboration with Canadian Construction Association’s (CCA) partner associations, National Construction Day recognizes and celebrates the dedicated, hard-working people instrumental in building, maintaining and connecting our communities through vital infrastructure.

Today is also the official launch of CCA’s advocacy week, where members from across Canada   will be meeting virtually with parliamentarians. A key message is that increasing investment in infrastructure and maintenance is sound economic policy that will benefit communities for years to come.

Presented in partnership with Northbridge Insurance and Travelers Insurance Company of Canada, this year National Construction Day will celebrate the industry’s strong safety culture. “The industry collaborated early and generously to share best practices across the country to ensure that sites remain safe for workers, their families and their communities throughout this pandemic,” said Mary Van Buren, CCA President. Adhering to CCA’s COVID-19 Standardized Protocols for All Construction Sites is just one example of how members continue to demonstrate their priority on the health and safety of workers and of their communities.

Throughout the day CCA will be featuring special speakers and content, including:

  • a special message from Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, Catherine McKenna;
  • a webinar featuring experts who will discuss “Wave2: Keeping the health and safety standards high, at 2:00 pm EDT;
  • photos of our industry giving back to the communities they serve and working to build a better Canada; and
  • national award winners.
