Timmins council green lights next phase of design development for Golden Manor

Timmons city council has agreed to proceed to the design development phase for the Golden Manor Redevelopment Project.

Golden Manor administrator Carol Halt presented an update on the project, including the current schematic design, during Tuesday’s meeting.

“Our team set out to design a long-term care home for the citizens of our city, as well as the surrounding area, which demonstrates a very home-like atmosphere for residents,” she said.

“It provides room for socializing and resident engagement, lots of space for programming and activities and very importantly after the year we have just experienced in the long-term care sector, integration of infection prevention control measures.

“It was very important to us to ensure these elements were included in the design.”

Louis Guilbeault, a director at BTY Consultancy Group Inc., provided a quick overview of where things stand with the project and its timeline moving forward.

“In terms of project status, the block schematic work, which is early stage of design, is now completed,” he said.

“We have a Class C cost estimate which has been completed and Class C really just means as we move through the different levels of design we move from Class D to Class A.

“Class A is the final estimate that is done before going to tender to market to get pricing.
