Risk Assessment - THEM
April 30, 2024

THEM provides risk assessments – get one done today!

Risk assessments evaluate potential risks and hazards that may be present in any environment. This process involves a thorough evaluation at your workplace to identify equipment, processes, and situations that may cause risk.

Doing a risk assessment creates awareness around the risk and hazard, identifies who may be at risk, and determines which measures can be taken to prevent these risks. Risk assessments should be done before new processes or activities are introduced or changed, and when any hazards are identified.

Why do you need a risk assessment?

Under Ontario Regulation 833 sections 25 and 26, employers are required to take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker. This includes monitoring the levels of biological, chemical or physical agents that workers are exposed to and keep and post accurate records of these agents. By undertaking a risk assessment, employers demonstrate their commitment to the well-being and safety of their employees and the longevity of the business itself. A diligent risk assessment empowers employers to comply with legal and regulatory requirements, protect their employees from harm, and minimize the likelihood of costly incidents or accidents. Overall, fulfilling the duty of the employer through regular risk assessments is instrumental in fostering a culture of safety, trust, and resilience within the organization.
