The RAIC was looking forward to hosting its first-ever hybrid conference where delegates could choose to attend in-person, virtually, or both. The RAIC staff have been carefully monitoring updates from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and national health groups with one issue top of mind, safeguarding the health, safety and well-being of Conference delegates, volunteers, speakers, panelists, exhibitors, and staff. 

Given the surge of Covid-19 Omicron variant cases, the varied level of gathering restrictions and lockdowns, constantly changing safety plans, the recent notice from the CDC classifying Canada as level 4 (“very high risk”) and advice to avoid travel to Canada, the RAIC has made the difficult decision to cancel the in-person delivery portion of the 2022 Conference on Architecture, including all pre-Conference events, architectural tours and meetings scheduled to take place in Vancouver, BC between May 10-14, 2022. With just over 12 weeks to go, there is simply too much ongoing uncertainty to continue planning an in-person event. Instead, the RAIC will work to organize the event in a 100% virtual format delivered over the month of June 2022.  

Building on the success of the 2020 and 2021 virtual conference delivery, we will continue with the highly rated weekly live broadcasts scheduled for several days across the month of June. The RAIC is committed to hosting the 2022 Conference on Architecture in a virtual format and has a robust plan in place to be able to transition most scheduled events to online delivery. 

We invite you to join us and your colleagues from the comfort of your home or office. With over 35 hours of live and on-demand content, the event will be a great opportunity to build knowledge, skills and competencies, network with participants, all while fulfilling continuing education requirements.
