Team Ontario Excels with 38 Medals at Skills Canada National Competition

Skills Ontario is pleased to announce Team Ontario returned from the 2024 Skills Canada National Competition in Quebec City with 38 medals.

At a Closing Ceremony on June 1st following the Skills Canada National Competition from May 30th to May 31st in Quebec City, Team Ontario took home 38 medals: 9 gold medals, 16 silver medals, and 13 bronze medals. A list of medalists from Team Ontario, including their name, contests, medal placements, and their institutions are listed below:

During the Closing Ceremony, RBC also presented an award called the RBC Best of Region Awards to a competitor, or competitors if a team of 2, from each province and territory with the best-weighted score using an algorithm to equally compare all competitors across all contests. For Ontario, the RBC Best of Region Award was presented to Team Ontario Negus King from Cooking post-secondary contest of George Brown College.

“We are proud of the hard work and results from Team Ontario,” says Ian Howcroft, CEO of Skills Ontario. “Advancing to the National level is a massive achievement on its own, and we congratulate all our competitors for their success. These young people have dedicated lots of time and effort into developing their skills, and it’s important that we support and celebrate our youth who are pursuing these fields.”

Team Ontario is represented by the top competitors advancing from the 2024 Skills Ontario Competition which took place earlier in May at the Toronto Congress Centre. At the National level, these competitors competed against the best skilled trade and technology competitors from across the country.

In September, Skills Ontario will be cheering on 2023 Team Ontario members, Paxton Coghlin and Dillon Kong for Mechatronics from Humber College, and Ethan McCallum for CNC Machining from Georgian College, who will be representing Canada at WorldSkills in Lyon, France 2024.
