Smart Choices for Worker Safety Gear

Construction sites can be potentially dangerous places. High-visibility clothing and vests protect your most important resources at low costs – especially if you know where to get them!


The jobsite is a busy place, full of many different team members, doing a wide variety of tasks, each inevitably requiring huge amounts of heavy material or large tough-to-stop machinery. Potential for accidents is substantial. Small oversights can be lethal. Simple safety measures, like wearing a high-visibility vest, make all the difference.

There is Never a Bad Time to Plan for Safety

In addition to producing the most durable and complete pre-engineered steel buildings, the safety of our workers is a primary concern for Double Black Construction. We go to every length to ensure our teams of skilled tradespeople can work at their best, as comfortable as possible, taking the necessary safety precautions and measures so everyone returns home at the end of the day.

Recently, I was reminded of how important the little details can be. We were starting two large projects (one in Brandon, Manitoba and the other on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia) and needed to order a new supply of belts, harnesses, PPE, helmets and other gear. Part of every worker kit includes high-visibility shirts and vests with reflective tape to help prevent accidents.

As an Abbotsford-based company, it was important to support a local manufacturer as much as possible. I tasked our marketing department with finding the highest quality clothing at reasonable prices (controlling budgets in another concern in the construction industry, of course). As expected, they came back to me with new supplier that met our criteria.
