RONA unveils its 2023 sustainable development report

RONA inc., one of Canada’s leading home improvement retailers operating and servicing some 425 corporate and affiliated stores, unveils its 2023 Sustainable Development Report. This report highlights the Boucherville-based organization’s various environmental and social initiatives, as well as the progress made towards achieving goals aligned with RONA’s three sustainable development strategic priorities:

  • Offering products that meet recognized environmental standards and are manufactured under safe and ethical working conditions.
  • Reducing the environmental impact of its operations and helping fight climate change.
  • Creating safe and healthy workplaces for its employees and supporting the communities where the company operates.

“Doing the right thing and being a responsible corporate citizen is something we care deeply about at RONA. In 2023, our communities faced many social, economic, and environmental challenges, making it more important than ever that we do our part to ensure the well-being of our teams, our customers, and our communities,” says Andrew Iacobucci, President and CEO of RONA inc.

2023 accomplishments

“I would like to thank my colleagues who, through their commitment, help us achieve our environmental and social goals. None of this would be possible without our teams’ involvement,” explains Mélanie Lussier, Senior Director, Communications, Public Affairs, and Sustainable Development at RONA inc.

Some of the highlights of the 2023 Sustainable Development Report include:

  • Over 5,000 ECO products available in stores and online.
  • 15 years supporting the FSC® wood certification.
  • 1,980 tonnes of paint, aerosols, batteries, light bulbs, and fluorescent tubes recovered.
  • 66% of the waste generated by the organization’s operations reused or recycled.
  • 1,024 solar panels installed at the Milton distribution centre.
  • $3 million donated to non-profit organizations through the RONA Foundation.
