The Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre’s redevelopment project was showcased to central Albertans through a public information session last week, revealing preliminary designs and a flyover video simulation of the new patient tower and power plant. Health Minister and MLA for Red Deer-North, Adriana LaGrange, expressed pride in the project’s progress, emphasizing its role in enhancing healthcare access and outcomes for residents of Red Deer and central Alberta. The project, which started design work in June 2023, is advancing on schedule and within budget, with schematic design completed and design development currently in progress. The expansion aims to add up to 200 beds to the existing capacity, potentially increasing the total to 570 beds. This redevelopment includes two major construction phases: building a new inpatient tower, expanding and renovating the main building, constructing an ambulatory care building, and upgrading hospital services by adding six new operating rooms, a new Medical Device Reprocessing department, and new cardiac catheterization labs.
