The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) has released its official Statement on Artificial Intelligence in Architecture, establishing a clear national position on the responsible use of AI across the profession.
As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the built environment, the RAIC’s statement affirms that while AI tools can enhance efficiency, expand access to information, and support climate-responsive design, they must be used in ways that uphold the public interest and the integrity of architectural practice.
“Artificial intelligence is already influencing how architects work,” said Mike Brennan, Chief Executive Officer. “This statement makes clear that while AI can support practice, it does not replace the architect’s professional judgment, ethical responsibility, or duty of care.”
