Pomerleau to Lead Phase I Redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Ontario

Pomerleau has officially secured the contract for the Phase I Redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital in New Tecumseth, Ontario, following finalized negotiations with Infrastructure Ontario and the hospital. This major healthcare infrastructure project underscores both Pomerleau’s commitment to enhancing healthcare facilities in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and the province’s dedication to investing in critical community health services.

The hospital redevelopment involves constructing a new 147,100 sq. ft. L-shaped expansion connected to the existing building. Once complete, the modernized facility will house key clinical services, including a new emergency department, laboratory, surgical suite, and birthing unit. Designed with functionality and patient care in mind, the expansion will also include significant site work, regrading, traffic flow improvements, and updated utility connections—all while ensuring uninterrupted 24/7 hospital operations.

“This expansion is essential to addressing healthcare needs in Ontario,” said Sean Smithson, Regional Vice President at Pomerleau. “We are proud to contribute to delivering a modern, safe, and accessible hospital for the local community.”

Pomerleau is scheduled to mobilize on-site in March 2026, with construction to begin shortly after. Completion is expected by late 2028, marking a critical step toward future-ready healthcare infrastructure in Ontario.
