The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies – Ontario celebrated engineering innovation and infrastructure excellence during the 2026 Ontario Engineering Project Awards (OEPA) gala on May 7, 2026, at Carmen’s Event Centre in Hamilton.

More than 300 leaders from government, municipalities, consulting engineering firms and industry partners attended the event to recognize projects driving sustainability, infrastructure modernization and community development across Ontario.

The evening’s top honour, the Willis Chipman Award, was awarded to EnVision Consultants Ltd. for the FESTI Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) project in the Region of Peel.

The project modernized Toronto Pearson’s advanced aircraft fire training facility with upgraded simulation technology designed to improve firefighter safety, training realism and compliance with international standards. EnVision Consultants delivered contract administration and project coordination under demanding timelines.

The 2026 OEPA program introduced three new award categories:

• Municipal Impact Award
• Humanitarian Award
• International Engineering Collaboration Award

According to ACEC-Ontario leadership, the additions recognize the growing importance of sustainability, social impact, collaboration and community resilience within the engineering profession.

Several major infrastructure and sustainability projects received recognition during the awards program, including:

• AECOM Canada for the Gordie Howe International Bridge Project
• Dillon Consulting Limited for the Old North Infrastructure Renewal Program
• WSP Canada Inc. for the Union Station Enhancement Project
• Stantec Consulting Ltd. for multiple infrastructure rehabilitation projects
• AtkinsRéalis Inc. for the Chinguacousy Beneficial Soil Reuse Site initiative

Additional awards highlighted achievements in wastewater treatment, transportation infrastructure, municipal decarbonization, innovation and corporate community engagement.

Industry leaders emphasized the vital role consulting engineers play in delivering resilient infrastructure, supporting economic growth and improving communities throughout Ontario. The event also acknowledged continued provincial and federal investment in infrastructure projects across the province.

The 2026 Ontario Engineering Project Awards showcased how engineering firms are advancing sustainability, innovation and public benefit while helping shape the future of Ontario’s infrastructure network.
