A new $40-million bridge expected to ease heavy traffic in north Mississauga when it opens next year is facing a minor delay in getting shovels into the ground.
Work on the Goreway Bridge, a long-awaited structure to be built over CN train tracks in the Malton area of the city, is now expected to begin on Aug. 24, according to City of Mississauga Ward 5 Councillor Carolyn Parrish.
That’s a 16-day delay from the Aug. 8 start date that was initially planned.
In an update on social media on Thursday, Parrish said her community has been waiting three decades for the bridge to be built, so another couple of weeks is not a concern.
And it remains on schedule to open to motorists in December 2024.
