Net Zero Now Ltd. has completed environmental studies for its first Alberta energy campus—a 320-acre site designed to solve one of Canada’s most pressing data center challenges: reliable access to electricity where operators need it. With data centers in Alberta applying for over 16,000 MW of load capacity but facing an AESO-imposed interim limit of 1,200 MW, Net Zero’s innovative energy campus offers a critical solution. The project will deliver 400 MW of base load electricity generation along with power quality services, backup supply, and an integrated data center campus. Operators can choose direct connections on-site or virtual contracts through the grid to bring their own generation online while serving pre-approved locations, dramatically improving speed-to-market and lowering costs.

Committed to sustainability, Net Zero will implement net-zero carbon emission electricity generation and advanced building techniques to reduce both embodied and operational carbon footprints, using sustainable materials and energy-efficient construction. Net Zero sees Alberta’s favourable electricity pricing, tax environment, and foreign exchange rate as drivers for transforming the province into a competitive global data center hub. The energy campuses will not only meet growing AI and cloud demand but also benefit Albertans by keeping electricity costs low, creating jobs, and contributing new property tax revenue. Net Zero is exploring additional strategic sites across Alberta to continue supporting data center operators with fully permitted, construction-ready campuses that offer low-cost, low-carbon electricity and seamless local integration.
