Boucherville, QC – November 5, 2018 – Lowe’s Canada announced earlier today the completion of the consolidation of Lowe’s Canada’s operations at the Boucherville, QC head office, which will lead to the closing of the Mississauga, ON and St. John’s, NF regional support centres in 2019. Lowe’s Canada further announced that it will close 27 underperforming corporate stores across the country, representing approximately 3% of its total retail network square footage, before the end of January 2019.

“Having our operations under one roof will allow us to improve collaboration between our banners to better serve our customers,” said Sylvain Prud’homme, President and Chief Executive Officer, Lowe’s Canada. “The decision to close stores is never one that we make lightly. However, following a detailed business review, we believe that this is the right path for the organization’s future. Everything will be done to ensure a smooth transition until the stores are closed, and Lowe’s Canada will support impacted employees, including by transferring eligible employees to other locations within our network whenever possible.”

In addition to the above-mentioned closures, a truss plant located in St. John’s, NF and a block plant located in Kamloops, BC, will also be closed. Lowe’s Canada will continue to serve customers in markets formerly served by closing stores through the other Lowe’s, RONA, Reno-Depot, Ace Canada, Dick’s Lumber and Contractor First corporate and affiliated dealer locations within its Canadian retail network, as well as through its online offer and parcel delivery service.
