Kwant and Walbridge Partner to Boost Safety and Efficiency in Ford’s BlueOval City Project

Kwant, a global leader in IoT-driven workforce management and safety solutions, proudly announces the continuation of its partnership with Walbridge, the main contractor for Ford’s innovative BlueOval City Project in Stanton, Tennessee. This ambitious project, valued at $5.6 billion, involves the construction of an electric vehicle battery plant over 3,600 acres, anticipated to create over 5,800 jobs.

The BlueOval City initiative extends beyond economic and employment growth, as it aims to contribute positively to environmental sustainability by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing air quality. Detroit-based Walbridge, renowned for its diverse construction portfolio worldwide, has integrated Kwant’s advanced technology to boost safety and efficiency during the BlueOval City construction.

Key to this integration is Kwant’s cutting-edge contactless access control system, including turnstiles and IoT-enabled smart badges for real-time safety monitoring and workforce management. These smart badges, equipped with emergency SOS alerting, are instrumental in rapidly responding to on-site emergencies, significantly upgrading Walbridge’s safety protocols for such a vast project.

Kwant’s proprietary sensors, known for their extended battery life and LoRaWAN connectivity, are vital in managing the movement of thousands of workers daily, streamlining access control processes, especially at busy entry points. This system not only enhances safety but also optimizes operational efficiency by automating headcount, thus reducing manual data collection and reporting tasks, leading to better schedule management and cost reduction.

A critical aspect of the project is ensuring only authorized personnel access the site. Kwant’s solution effectively flags unverified individuals, maintaining high-security standards. This partnership between Kwant and Walbridge, marked by numerous large-scale collaborations, continues to set new benchmarks in construction safety and productivity, leveraging state-of-the-art technology for smarter, data-driven decision-making in workforce management.

Kwant’s responsive team has adeptly handled dynamic field conditions, ensuring data security even during challenging scenarios like storm outages. The system’s capacity to read workers in transit, bypassing manual check-ins, has significantly enhanced daily operations, especially as the workforce numbers have surpassed 4,000.
