Join Simplifies the Transition from Precon to Operations with Procore Integration

Join, the collaborative project delivery platform for the built environment, recently announced a new technology integration with Procore Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: PCOR), a leading global provider of construction management software.

“More and more, preconstruction and execution overlap,” explains Eric Raff, Co-founder and Board Chair of XL Construction. “When this happens, projects end up with a foot in each of two worlds. During that time, piecing together a comprehensive picture of decision impacts for owners can be a challenge. Changes that emerge from design and cost analysis might not make it into contracts that have already gone to the field. And field-originated change orders that impact design and precon might not bubble all the way up. This creates risk.”

To align teams and manage risk, project teams can now link an accepted Item (or decision) in Join to a Change Event in Procore, streamlining the coordination activities between preconstruction and operations. This allows Join to continue to be the decision-making platform of choice for project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle and eliminates duplicate data entry.

When an Item is accepted in Join, it may have an impact on a scope of work with a specific budget allocation that is tracked and managed in Procore. By linking the Join Item to a new Procore Change Event, the cost impact can be tracked through any of the Change Event-related workflows in Procore, such as an RFI (Request for Information) or a PCO (Potential Change Order). This seamless integration allows users of both Join and Procore to continue using both applications for client-facing decision-making and project operations management, respectively.

“The transition from precon to operations is a huge hurdle for our general contractor customers, especially in fast-tracked projects where construction begins but design and precon are still evolving with other scopes,” said Jim Forester, Co-founder and Head of Business Development at Join. “Tying decisions managed in Join to the operational execution in Procore creates continuity that wasn’t possible before without doing double-entry in both systems. We’re excited to launch this new integration feature with Procore to break down barriers in this transition to operations and streamline the process for all project stakeholders.”

“This is excellent,” said Amanda Finnerty, Director of Technology & Process Improvement at Commodore Builders. “Our team uses Join during preconstruction, but many changes come up after the transition between estimating and operations. This is in alignment with everything we are doing, and it’s really complementing our Procore Financials implementation. It’s fantastic.”

This enhanced integration adds another opportunity for Procore and Join’s mutual customers to connect business processes and increase team efficiency. “Customers using Join for collaborative decision-making can now easily transition critical information into the Procore platform to connect with other preconstruction, project execution and financial management workflows,” said Will Lehrmann, VP of Product for Preconstruction, Procore. ”

The Join and Procore platforms work in tandem to build collaboration, transparency, and trust among stakeholders throughout the construction project lifecycle. General contractors, specialty contractors, and owners use Join and Procore together to gain real-time insight and data on decisions, costs, and other critical elements of construction management.
