Improved Design Boosts V-FLOOR® Unloading Efficiency

For the past 45 years, KEITH Manufacturing Co. has worked to adapt its proven walking floor® technology to hauler’s needs. The introduction of the rugged V-FLOOR® slat almost 20 years ago allowed haulers to take loads other trailers had to pass on. The V-FLOOR® slats are designed for higher impact and abrasion and are suitable for demolition, scrap metal, asphalt, aggregate and specialty waste products such as fly ash. Recent improvements to the V-FLOOR® design are the efficiency of the unloading system.

The major advantages include an increase of the floor area that actually moves the load and a reduction in the weight of the slats. The new design is up to four pounds lighter per foot, compared to the original design.

With more floor surface now moving the load, haulers experience improved cleanout, more efficient unloading on an incline, better performance in freezing conditions, and the ability to haul and unload a greater variety of materials. Added bearing support also increases the life of both the bearing and the slat.

Designed to handle a variety of bulk products, KEITH® WALKING FLOOR® systems offer many benefits over conventional tipper trailers. The horizontal unloading action of a moving floor system eliminates many of the hazards using tipping trailers to unload products in the field. Trailers with WALKING FLOOR® systems can safely unload on uneven ground and in buildings. Benefits over traditional belt trailers include handling a larger cubic capacity and less maintenance.

The WALKING FLOOR® system serves as the flooring of a trailer and is a self-unloading system. This “moving floor” unloader is made of a series of floor slats, which are powered by a hydraulic drive. As the floor cycles through its phases, material is conveyed or unloaded.

For more than 40 years, KEITH Mfg. Co. has provided a variety of industries with reliable and innovative WALKING FLOOR®technology. For more information on KEITH® WALKING FLOOR® products visit https://walkingfloorservice.ca/walking-floor-systems.
