The Independent Contractors and Businesses Association (ICBA) has partnered with Global eTraining to launch a major construction technology training initiative designed to help Canadian contractors and their employees develop job-ready digital skills.
The initiative brings Global eTraining’s catalogue of on-demand construction technology courses directly into ICBA’s existing Learning Management System, providing ICBA and Merit Canada members with flexible access to technical training across field, administrative and leadership roles.
Canada’s construction industry faces both skilled-labour pressures and accelerating technology adoption. Contractors increasingly need employees who can confidently work with Building Information Modeling (BIM), project management platforms, digital workflows and emerging technologies.
By integrating training into ICBA’s learning platform, the partnership aims to reduce reliance on offsite courses, rigid training schedules and fragmented third-party providers while giving companies a more structured way to develop and track employee skills.
Members will have access to hundreds of self-paced courses covering Autodesk applications including Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Forma and Civil 3D.
Training will also cover widely used construction technologies and topics including Procore, Bluebeam, Revizto, Bentley, BIM, laser scanning, GIS, digital twins, artificial intelligence and safety.
Courses can be selected based on an employee’s role, experience and schedule, allowing construction professionals to develop skills they can apply directly on the job. The catalogue can also evolve as technology and industry requirements change, including the potential for additional courses and language options.
“By bringing this high-quality, robust portfolio of learning directly to our members through a familiar platform, we are making digital skills more accessible at every stage of a person’s career,” said Nicola Blockley, Education Manager at ICBA.
Susan Brattberg, Chief Customer Officer at Global eTraining, said the initiative combines ICBA’s national industry leadership with Global eTraining’s construction technology course library to provide Canadian contractors with essential digital skills.
The rollout is underway ahead of a broader mid-September launch. The initiative will be showcased at ICBA Meet the Generals in Edmonton on September 29, 2026, followed by the ICBA Construction Innovation Summit in Vancouver in November.
