Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex celebrates construction of 83rd home

A single parent and two children have a new home after Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex celebrated the construction of its 83rd house on Wednesday.

“Habitat’s model is unlike any other affordable housing option,” said board chair Lindsay Lovecky. “Partner families help build their own homes and purchase them through a mortgage with monthly payments geared to their income. This allows families to build equity for their future and helps reverse the cycle of poverty.”

Habitat for Humanity held a ceremony Wednesday on the front lawn of 1067 Henry Ford Centre Drive before giving those attendance a look inside the house.

The new house is the third Habitat home built on that street in the past year. Since 2019, Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex said it has built eight homes in Ford City, housing 25 children and their parents.
