Gordie Howe Bridge Deck - almost connected
May 15, 2024

Gordie Howe bridge deck nearly connected in the middle

The Gordie Howe International Bridge, a significant infrastructure project connecting Windsor, Ontario, and Detroit, Michigan, is approaching a major milestone as its deck is nearly connected in the middle. This bridge, set to be one of the longest cable-stayed bridges in North America, is a critical development for enhancing trade and transportation between Canada and the United States. As of the latest updates, the bridge’s deck is just 150 feet away from being joined in the center, a phase anticipated to be completed by this summer. Upon completion, the bridge will feature six lanes, dedicated pedestrian and bicycle paths, and modern ports of entry on both sides. The project, which began in 2018 and is expected to finish in 2025, symbolizes a significant enhancement in cross-border connectivity and is seen as a vital economic link. The construction is being managed by Bridging North America, a partnership specifically formed for this project, and reflects a major investment in the economic relationship between the two countries.
