GHD named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers

Global professional services company GHD has been named as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2023, as announced by the competition organizers. The national award, now in its 23rd year, evaluates employers against other organizations in their field and recognizes those who offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs for their employees.

“The Canada’s Top 100 Employers recognition underscores our commitment to our employees’ holistic wellbeing and our progressive approach to better support our diverse talents,” said Chris Hunter, executive general manager for Canada. “Listening to our employees’ needs is one of our priorities to further foster career progress, camaraderie and collaboration.”

GHD went above and beyond to support its employees during the pandemic, encouraged teams to collaborate working from their preferred work locations, added budget for mental and physical health and other benefits. GHD also partnered with specialty vendors for disability and grow-your-family support, including fertility treatment and medication coverage in the benefits package for all employees.

Specifically, the organizers cite GHD’s performance in the following categories as award strong points:

  • helps employees prepare for the future with retirement planning assistance, matching RSP contributions and a health planning;
  • supports employees through all phases of family planning, including coverage for fertility drugs and treatments for parents-to-be, and maternity and parental leave top-up for new and adoptive parents; and
  • offers professional development opportunities for individuals at all stages of their careers, from a dedicated graduate development program to formal mentoring opportunities and leadership development.

“We are very proud of our progress in strengthening our corporate culture. As the Canada’s Top 100 Employers recognition focus this year is on resilience, we are honoured to be a positive example for others,” added Hunter. “Our team’s tenacity to re-imagine and adapt to the so-called new-normal sets a new precedent to keep supporting everyone with understanding and compassion in the most challenging situations. This also reinforces that our work is never done and there will always be new innovations and practices that are essential to explore to ensure the future remains bright.”

Now celebrating its 23rd year, Canada’s Top 100 Employers is a national competition to determine which employers lead their industries in offering exceptional workplaces for their employees. Since the award’s inception, participant organizations have been evaluated against eight criteria, including physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.

The national award adds to GHD’s record of recognitions for attracting and retaining quality talent in Canada. GHD has been named twice as one of Waterloo Area’s Top Employers, in 2019 and 2020 and was named one of Canada’s Top Employer for Young People in 2020.

The GHD team congratulates all participants and winners of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2023. The full list of winners and special feature magazine can be found here.
