Geo Week has opened applications for its 2027 GEO Empower Event Scholarship, an initiative designed to support university students interested in using geospatial, surveying, mapping and 3D technologies to create positive social and environmental impact.
Now in its third year, the scholarship is part of Geo Week’s growing effort to strengthen the geospatial workforce pipeline and connect emerging talent with industry opportunities.
Selected GEO Empower Scholarship recipients will attend Geo Week 2027, February 23–25 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Recipients will receive a full conference pass, complimentary hotel accommodation, a travel stipend and onsite mentorship opportunities. Students will also be able to meet geospatial industry leaders, attend educational sessions, experience hands-on technology demonstrations and participate in an onsite scholarship presentation.
Applications are open to students currently enrolled at a university in the United States who are passionate about applying geospatial technology to social and environmental challenges. The application deadline is October 30, 2026.
The GEO Empower Scholarship has become a cornerstone of Geo Week’s broader workforce development initiatives, which aim to address growing demand for qualified geospatial professionals.
Geo Week is also establishing a Workforce Development Committee, bringing together geospatial professionals, educators and advocates. The volunteer advisory group will help guide student outreach, career development opportunities and industry-focused content.
Organizations will also be able to support the initiative through tiered Workforce Development Sponsorships, helping expand and sustain the scholarship program.
By bringing students directly into one of the industry’s major conferences, Geo Week aims to provide exposure to the technologies, employers and professional relationships shaping careers in geospatial technology, surveying, mapping and 3D visualization.
The initiative reflects a broader industry focus on developing the next generation of skilled professionals while strengthening connections between education and the evolving geospatial technology sector.
