Geo Week, a leading conference focused on geospatial, surveying, mapping, and 3D technology, has officially opened the application period for its 2026 Geo Empower Event Scholarship. This initiative supports university students in the U.S. who are passionate about leveraging geospatial technologies for positive social and environmental change.
Now in its second year, the Geo Empower Scholarship program provides students with unique access to mentorship, education, and networking opportunities at one of the industry’s most influential events. The scholarship is designed to encourage innovation and inspire the next generation of geospatial leaders.
Lora Burns, Senior Marketing Manager and DEI Manager at Geo Week, highlighted the importance of the program:
“Geospatial technology is rapidly transforming how we tackle critical challenges such as urban planning, environmental monitoring, and disaster response. We’re committed to supporting students who want to use these tools to make a real difference in their communities.”
Open to current university students in the United States, the scholarship seeks applicants with a demonstrated passion for using geospatial, mapping, surveying, or 3D technologies for social good.
The deadline to apply is October 31, 2025. In addition to the scholarship, Geo Week is offering sponsorship and mentoring opportunities for industry professionals and organizations interested in supporting the next generation of talent.
This initiative is part of Geo Week’s broader commitment to workforce development, diversity, and innovation within the geospatial sector. As the industry continues to evolve and intersect with other key sectors such as construction, environmental science, and urban development, the need for skilled, socially-conscious professionals grows.
