Free Webinar on March 30: Demobilizing construction sites due to COVID-19

Construction sites across the country are being shut down as precautions due to COVID-19. Because inactive and unattended construction sites pose a risk to the community, the American Wood Council and Construction Fire Safety Coalition is hosting a free webinar on fire prevention precautions that should be taken by stakeholders when construction sites shut-down.

The webinar, on Monday, March 30, provides guidance that is based on compliance with Chapter 33 of the 2018 International Fire Code, Chapter 33 of the 2018 International Building Code, and NFPA Standards 1 and 241.

AWC Fire Service Relations Manager Ray O’Brocki will present on the applicable provisions of codes and standards that address construction site fire prevention.

Chris Towski, a Fire Lieutenant for the City of Cambridge Massachusetts Fire Department, will present on current measures underway in the greater Boston area to protect construction sites.

Register for either the 10:55 a.m. ET or 1:55 p.m. ET webinar here. Continuing education credits are not offered for this webinar.

The American Wood Council (AWC) is the voice of North American wood products manufacturing, an industry that provides almost 450,000 men and women in the United States with family-wage jobs. AWC represents 86 percent of the structural wood products industry, and members make products that are essential to everyday life from a renewable resource that absorbs and sequesters carbon. Staff experts develop state-of-the-art engineering data, technology, and standards for wood products to assure their safe and efficient design, as well as provide information on wood design, green building, and environmental regulations. AWC also advocates for balanced government policies that affect wood products.
