EllisDon has acquired Hardline Engineering and Firefly Power & Energy, expanding its capabilities in Canadian power infrastructure, electrical engineering, utility construction and high-voltage services. The acquisitions strengthen EllisDon’s ability to provide integrated engineering and construction solutions for power projects across Canada.
The addition of the two companies expands EllisDon’s expertise across high- and medium-voltage power engineering, transmission and distribution systems, substations, electrical utility infrastructure and construction.
Hardline Engineering provides engineering and project delivery services spanning interconnections and systems studies, transmission, distribution, substations, streetlighting and underground residential distribution (URD).
Firefly Power & Energy specializes in high-voltage construction, operations and maintenance services.
Together, the companies provide expertise across the power infrastructure lifecycle, from engineering and design through construction, operations and maintenance.
Ian Kerr, Senior Vice President and Area Manager for EllisDon Power, said the acquisitions bring together established businesses with strong client relationships while enhancing EllisDon’s ability to provide flexible, integrated solutions across projects of varying scales.
The expanded capabilities come as demand grows across Canada for new power infrastructure, grid modernization, infrastructure upgrades and energy construction.
EllisDon will be positioned to provide specialized services to electric utilities, renewable energy developers, industrial and commercial organizations and public-sector clients.
Both Hardline Engineering and Firefly Power & Energy will continue operating under their established brands, providing continuity for existing clients, partners and projects.
At the same time, the companies will gain access to EllisDon’s broader resources, scale and national reach.
The acquisitions strengthen EllisDon’s ability to support complex power and energy projects across their full lifecycle as Canadian communities and industries require increasingly sophisticated and reliable electrical infrastructure.
