Cutting-Edge SLAM Technology Powers PlanRadar’s New SiteView Feature

PlanRadar, a leading digital documentation platform for construction, facility management, and real estate projects, has launched SiteView, a new feature leveraging SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) technology to revolutionize site documentation. SiteView allows users to capture 360° imagery of construction sites and automatically map it onto 2D plans, creating a detailed and accurate visual record with minimal effort. Users can simply walk the site with a camera-equipped helmet, and the system, powered by AI and computer vision, aligns the images to site plans while providing precise localization and depth estimation.

SLAM technology, widely used in robotics and autonomous systems, creates a map of an area while tracking the device’s location. As the device moves, sensors collect data, continuously updating both the map and the device’s position. This advanced technology is gaining traction across industries, and the SLAM market is projected to reach $9.4 billion by 2030, driven by advancements in AI, robotics, and sensor technology.

PlanRadar’s SiteView significantly enhances project documentation by offering superior visual transparency. It facilitates efficient condition surveys, documenting a building’s initial state to mitigate liability for pre-existing issues. Throughout the project lifecycle, SiteView enables milestone comparisons, reducing costly rework—estimated at 11% of total project costs—by providing clear visual records. The feature also improves collaboration by enabling remote access to real-time visual updates, ensuring stakeholders can review and approve progress without visiting the site, minimizing miscommunication and disputes.

According to PlanRadar’s CEO, Ibrahim Imam, “SiteView enhances our powerful documentation capabilities, combining ease of use with the highest accuracy. This new feature makes innovative technology more accessible to the construction industry, offering full transparency, reduced miscommunication, and less rework on projects.”

SiteView also positions PlanRadar at the forefront of construction technology innovation. The R&D team is already developing additional interactivity features, such as markups, tagging, bookmarking, and measurement capabilities within 360° images. These updates aim to further streamline workflows and expand the functionality of the platform based on user feedback and industry needs.

Available to customers now, SiteView marks a new phase in PlanRadar’s mission to integrate cutting-edge solutions into construction processes. By making advanced SLAM technology accessible, PlanRadar is transforming how the industry handles site documentation, delivering greater efficiency, transparency, and collaboration.
