Job costing isn’t “nice to have”—it’s the bridge between your estimate and reality. In episode two of The Cost Code Show, Steve Coughran lays out a simple rhythm: bid → build → measure → adjust. Run job-cost reports weekly, catch drifting labor and short materials, and feed those lessons back into estimating. The result: fewer office-vs-field debates, trued-up production rates, and bids that stop repeating the same mistakes.

CSVs don’t die — they come back wrong. Alice brings them back right — normalized, typed, encoded, and ready for Snowflake. Say goodbye to delimiter chaos, header horrors, null nightmares, and encoding curses.

Based in Ottawa, M.P. Lundy Construction specializes in complex commercial construction projects and has emerged as a leader in the local Construction Management sector. In this case study, President and CEO, Sean Lundy, and BIM Manager, Danish Javed, share examples of how investing in an integrated collaboration platform is helping them succeed as a Mid-Market General Contractor, including winning the expansive 250,000 sq. ft Canadian Tire retail store and distribution center project that commemorated the store’s 100th anniversary.

Construction firms gain from compliance tools by centralizing obligations, enforcing rules in execution, and reducing process drift. The software ties policies to project tasks, pauses workflows when requirements aren’t met, and enforces document standards. Consistent record keeping, alerts, and integration with project systems help teams maintain accountability and readiness for audits or disputes.

The Engineering and Construction (E&C) industry faces unique challenges: dispersed stakeholders, stagnant productivity, budget overruns, and skilled labor shortages. As project demands grow and scrutiny intensifies, digital collaboration has emerged as a critical solution. Platforms like Civalgo and TradesFactor optimize field operations and address workforce gaps, improving communication, planning, and real-time data access. Leveraging digital tools enables better risk management, real-time updates, and streamlined execution.
