How Automation is Transforming Construction Project Management

The construction industry continues to face inefficiencies caused by outdated, manual processes—from invoice approvals and safety inspections to project communication and asset tracking. These challenges slow progress, hurt profitability, and strain already-tight margins. However, most firms already have access to powerful tools within Microsoft 365—such as Power Automate, SharePoint, Power BI, and Microsoft Teams—that can automate routine tasks, streamline workflows, and reduce costly errors. For example, automating invoice approvals can cut processing time from weeks to days, while digitizing safety inspections improves compliance and eliminates paper-heavy systems. Real-time dashboards via Power BI offer actionable insights that support smarter decision-making. With MNP Digital’s expertise, construction firms can unlock the full potential of these tools, reduce operational costs, and enhance project outcomes—without needing to invest in new software. Embracing automation is no longer optional; it’s a strategic imperative for gaining efficiency, boosting morale, and staying competitive in a demanding industry.

CarbiCrete and POINT.P Scale Up Sustainable Concrete Manufacturing in Europe

POINT.P, a Saint-Gobain brand, and Canadian cleantech company CarbiCrete have announced the launch of France’s first industrial production line for cement-free concrete blocks, set to begin operations in early 2026. Located in Hauts-de-France, the facility will use CarbiCrete’s patented technology to manufacture 20,000 tonnes of decarbonized concrete blocks in its first year—doubling production in year two. This breakthrough process replaces traditional cement with steel slag, an industrial by-product, and hardens the concrete by injecting captured CO₂, which is permanently sequestered in the product. This innovation offers a scalable, low-carbon alternative to conventional concrete, maintaining the same performance while eliminating cement-related emissions. Building on a successful pilot project in Quebec, this partnership marks a major milestone in sustainable construction and positions POINT.P as a leader in decarbonizing the building sector.

Carbon Upcycling Secures $18M to Advance Low-Carbon Cement Solutions

Carbon Upcycling Technologies has secured an $18 million investment round led by Builders Vision, advancing its breakthrough carbon capture and utilization solutions for the construction industry. This funding supports Carbon Upcycling’s flagship project at the Ash Grove Mississauga Cement Plant and its new agreement with TITAN Group to explore decarbonization opportunities at two cement facilities. The round also includes continued backing from major investors like BDC, CRH Ventures, and Oxy Low Carbon Ventures, reinforcing market confidence in Carbon Upcycling’s scalable, science-based technology. The company transforms industrial waste and captured CO₂ into high-performance, sustainable cement alternatives—reducing emissions while localizing and strengthening building material supply chains. With technology adaptable to various feedstocks and easy integration into existing operations, Carbon Upcycling is setting new standards for low-carbon construction.

From Jobsite to Hard Drive: Closing Construction’s Knowledge Gap

With over 20% of U.S. construction workers aged 55 or older, the industry is facing a growing crisis of knowledge loss. As veteran professionals retire without structured knowledge transfer, decades of field-tested expertise vanish—threatening project performance, safety, and profitability. Unlike standardized industries, construction relies on informal, project-specific learning that rarely gets documented or scaled. This knowledge gap is worsened by slow generational turnover, siloed operations, and a lingering perception that construction lacks innovation. However, solutions exist: leveraging AI to retain performance data, implementing structured mentorship and job rotations, building internal digital knowledge libraries, and fostering cross-company collaboration through industry events. Rebranding construction as a tech-enabled, upwardly mobile career path is also key to attracting younger talent. By prioritizing institutional knowledge as a strategic asset, firms can reduce risk, boost retention, and support long-term success. Now is the time for leaders to invest in systems that capture, preserve, and share the wisdom that builds our cities.
