New Research on Intelligent Building Technology Adoption

Serving clients across the U.S., particularly in California, Florida, and Texas, the company seeks to make housing more affordable by reducing permit acquisition times.


Construction Robotics Startup Monumental Raises $25M

Monumental, a robotics startup addressing labor, cost, and sustainability challenges in construction, has raised $25 million in a round led by Plural and Hummingbird, with support from several other investors. Founded by Salar al Khafaji and Sebastiaan Visser, the company develops autonomous robots that assist in bricklaying, offering a solution to the labor shortage in Europe. These robots, known for their precision and ability to work in tight spaces, are part of Monumental’s strategy to enhance construction productivity and sustainability. The funding will enable Monumental to expand its team, increase robot deployment across Europe, and broaden its construction capabilities, marking a significant advancement towards sustainable, efficient construction practices.


The 2024 AEC Data Insights Report by Egnyte highlights a major shift in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction sector towards cloud-based storage and collaboration, driven by a 50.3% growth in data storage requirements and a significant increase in collaborative activities, especially in construction. This transition, accelerated by the pandemic, addresses the need for real-time collaboration, stringent security standards, and the integration of advanced technologies. The report, analyzing data from over 4,000 companies, underscores the critical role of secure, efficient cloud solutions in meeting the evolving demands of the AEC industry.
