Managing Construction Disputes: The Impact of Documentation Software

Contractors and subcontractors are facing a surge in litigation, with disputes reaching unprecedented values, according to a recent report by Arcadis. This trend – where the average value of disputes in North America increased by 42% from 2021 to 2022 – is expected to continue in 2024. As a result, legal experts say many commercial contractors in the construction industry are turning to management software as an inexpensive hedge against lawsuits. Andee Hidalgo, the owner of Spearhead Construction, said entering information daily into reporting software may seem time-consuming and tedious, but having documentation makes it easier to prepare for whatever could happen. She said she’s now empowered to respond promptly to disputes and request compensation for delays and additional costs.

Maximizing Efficiency and Reducing Risks with STACK and Nearmap Integration

STACK Construction Technologies, an industry-leading cloud-based construction platform, recently announced a partnership with Nearmap, one of the world’s largest location intelligence and aerial imagery solutions providers, to improve efficiency, reduce risks, and increase bid output for subcontractors. The new integration delivers benefits by leveraging high-resolution aerial images to improve estimate accuracy and eliminate the need for onsite visits. Exterior and site plans on existing buildings are not always available, leaving contractors to use lower resolution satellite images and increasing safety risks, labor costs, and time wasted by performing redundant onsite visits. With the STACK and Nearmap integration, contractors can seamlessly import high-quality aerial images with automatic scaling to complete quotes.
