National Construction Day
November 30, 2021

Construction Links Network is celebrating National Construction Day – Join us!

Today marks the third annual national celebration day of the construction industry.

In collaboration with the Canadian Construction Association’s (CCA) partner associations, National Construction Day recognizes and celebrates the dedicated, hard-working people instrumental in building, maintaining, and connecting our communities through vital infrastructure. Throughout the pandemic, the industry ensured that our roads, bridges, hospitals and other public institutions were built and maintained, supporting our communities across Canada.

Presented in partnership with Ledcor, Northbridge Insurance, and Graham, this year, National Construction Day will celebrate the industry’s efforts in attracting and retaining a diverse workforce through phase II of its Talent Fits Here campaign and by sharing activities and initiatives to encourage diversity and inclusion.

With billions of dollars earmarked for infrastructure, there has never been a better time to work in construction. “Construction provides well-paying and rewarding jobs – and we are encouraging more people to view the industry as a career of choice. Attracting those from under-represented segments as well as from STEM fields will help accelerate diversity, inclusion, creativity, and innovation to the sector,” says Mary Van Buren, CCA president.

A thoughtful and practical cultural shift toward diversity and inclusion can drive bottom-line profit by sparking innovation, increasing productivity, reducing turnover, improving safety, increasing market share and customer base, and enhancing a company’s reputation. Throughout the day CCA will be featuring special speakers and content, including:

  • The latest stories from members of our industry through CCA’s Talent Fits Here campaign;
  • A webinar featuring industry leaders who will discuss diversity and inclusion in construction. “Diversity and Inclusion: more than words at 2:00 pm (ET); and
  • Resources through CCA’s “Diversity and Inclusion: a call to action” webpages; including videos from National Construction Day sponsor, Ledcor; CCA’s Workforce Excellence Award recipient; and a “Conversation with EllisDon” on diversity and inclusion toolbox talks.

Join us in celebrating the diverse and talented professionals who make up this industry, and the work that they do to Build a Better Canada.
