Construction has started on the new Vancouver Art Gallery, showcasing Coast Salish art with a facade designed by local Indigenous artists. This large-scale, nine-level project, designed by Herzog & de Meuron, aims to be a space of protection and representation, incorporating traditional weaving methods into its design. The building will serve not only as an art gallery but also include classrooms, studios, a theater, and community spaces, targeting completion in 2028. This initiative represents an act of reconciliation and a tribute to Indigenous cultures, hoping to foster awareness and pride.
