COMMAND Center Used on Award Winning Project: The Dublin Link

Engineering News-Record (ENR) Midwest named the Dublin Link the Highway/Bridge 2020 Best Project.

Engineering News-Record (ENR) Midwest named the Dublin Link the Highway/Bridge 2020 Best Project. According to ENR, the highway/bridge category was one of their most competitive fields for the Best Project award.

The Dublin Link is a 760-foot pedestrian bridge opened in March 2020 and connects Dublin, Ohio with the Dublin Riverside Park development across the Scioto River. It’s the world’s only and longest single-span, single-tower, S-shaped suspension bridge.

With multiple mass concrete placements on the project, Kokosing Construction Company, the general contractor, needed to ensure their concrete did not exceed maximum temperature limits and temperature differentials as specified in their thermal control plan. The team used COMMAND Center to  easily monitor concrete temperatures during construction.

Maintaining appropriate temperatures and temperature ranges within mass concrete placements is a key to maintaining its durability and longevity. The risk of temperature-related concrete damage increases if the temperature of concrete gets too high or if the temperature differential between a hotter interior point and the surface gets too large.

COMMAND Center makes it easy for teams to monitor internal concrete temperatures. COMMAND Center Sensors automatically record and store temperature data internally. Construction teams like Kokosing can then download the data on an iOS device and use the free COMMAND Center app to generate reports of temperature history and temperature differential data for easy disbursement. With COMMAND Center AutoCollect, teams can collect data automatically and access it anywhere, removing the need for on-site personnel.
