Command Alkon and German batching automation specialist Gedis GmbH & Co. KG have announced a partnership that will connect the Gedis IBS33W concrete batching system to Batch in Command Cloud, making it the first third-party batch system to operate on the cloud platform. The agreement is designed to help ready mix and precast concrete producers modernize plant operations without replacing existing batching equipment.
Through the partnership, Gedis becomes Command Alkon’s exclusive value-added reseller and certified implementor of Batch in Command Cloud and Batch AI in Germany.
Gedis has also joined Command Alkon’s Connected Partner Program, providing its engineers with certified API access to Command Cloud master data through the company’s developer portal, along with technical consulting, training and certification.
The companies will integrate Gedis’ IBS33W system for ready mix and precast concrete with Batch in Command Cloud.
Once connected, IBS33W will become the first third-party batching system supported by the platform alongside Command Alkon’s COMMANDbatch and Marcotte Batch systems.
A key objective of the integration is addressing the mixed batching environments commonly found across concrete production networks.
Producers may operate multiple plants using different generations or brands of batching technology. Moving those operations to the cloud can require replacing on-premise equipment that remains functional.
The Command Alkon and Gedis integration is intended to remove that barrier for existing IBS33W users.
Producers will be able to retain their existing Gedis batch panels, field wiring and I/O while connecting plant operations to Command Cloud.
This approach allows companies to modernize the management layer of their concrete production operations without necessarily replacing the underlying plant automation infrastructure.
Connecting IBS33W with Batch in Command Cloud will give producers the ability to monitor and operate plants using different batching systems through a common interface.
The integration is designed to support centralized management of plant configurations, materials, mix designs and user permissions across multiple locations.
Producers will also be able to access real-time analytics, ticket history and audit logs across connected plants.
Cloud connectivity enables batching from different locations and devices while allowing experienced batch personnel to remotely support multiple plants.
For producers operating geographically distributed facilities, this could help make specialized batching expertise available across a broader plant network.
According to Command Alkon, Batch in Command Cloud is currently in production with more than 100 producers across approximately 1,800 plants in nine countries.
Those plants represent roughly 53 million cubic yards of annual concrete production.
Deployments range from individual plants requiring greater batching flexibility to centralized operations managing multiple facilities.
Todd Koch, SVP of Plant Automation Solutions at Command Alkon, said the Gedis partnership extends that model to producers that want cloud-based management while continuing to use existing plant equipment.
The goal is to provide a consistent interface, process and operating standards across plants even when the underlying batching technologies differ.
The partnership also creates a path for integrating Command Alkon’s Batch AI technology with Gedis systems in a future release.
Batch AI is Command Alkon’s artificial intelligence solution for concrete production. According to the company, the technology continuously adjusts gate opening times as plant conditions change to help keep individual batches within specification.
Bringing Batch AI to IBS33W would extend AI-assisted concrete production capabilities to existing Gedis installations without requiring producers to replace their batching automation systems.
Command Alkon and Gedis have not announced a release date for Batch AI on Gedis systems.
Under the agreement, Gedis will lead sales, implementation and first- and second-tier support for Command Cloud and Batch in Command Cloud within Germany.
Command Alkon will provide platform engineering, training, certification and third-tier support.
Gedis owner Wolfgang Schmack said the partnership allows customers to retain their existing IBS33W systems while gaining access to capabilities including remote batching, centralized configuration and, eventually, Batch AI.
For concrete producers, the broader significance of the partnership is interoperability. Connecting third-party plant automation to a common cloud platform could allow companies with mixed batching environments to adopt centralized digital operations incrementally rather than replacing functional equipment across their entire plant network.
