College of Fellows Elects Dean Yew-Thong Leong by Acclamation

Yew-Thong Leong, a Toronto-based architect, and Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) has been acclaimed as Dean of the RAIC College of Fellows for a three-year term beginning June 2024. Leong will succeed Thomas Emodi, FRAIC of Halifax, who served two terms starting in 2018.

I am delighted to welcome Yew-Thong as the incoming Dean of the College of Fellows. He has given many years of volunteering to our profession and as a result has a lot of expertise to provide to the College. His contributions to both the RAIC and the architectural community have been nothing short of remarkable.” – Thomas Emodi, FRAIC

Yew-Thong developed the national curriculum on architectural business and practice management for the RAIC Syllabus, served on the Editorial Committee of the 3rd Edition of CHOP, and presented at three RAIC Conferences from 2021-2023. He is one of six Professional Practice Advisors at the RAIC, a professor at Toronto Metropolitan University, and frequently travels across Canada to meet members and practitioners.

Yew-Thong’s personal and professional contributions have been recognized with a Global Learning Award by the Ryerson International Office, as well as two Asian Heritage Awards. Additionally, this May, he will be invested as a Chevalier of the Order of St. George.

I am honoured to be able to serve alongside the Officers of the College, the RAIC Board and the Executive/Admin team of the RAIC.  As a unique national and international organization, the RAIC is an august institution that we are all privileged to be a part of.” – Yew-Thong Leong
