Calgary’s event centre project, featuring an 18,000-seat arena to replace the Scotiabank Saddledome, is moving forward with construction set to begin this year. Finalized agreements between the City of Calgary, Alberta Government, Calgary Stampede, and CSEC were publicly released, revealing details of the project, which include a new community rink and extensive infrastructure developments. The city will invest $537 million, while CSEC contributes significantly through upfront and lease payments. Completion of the arena is expected in 2026, with surrounding infrastructure to follow in 2027.
