Cadillac Fairview (CF) has announced that its flagship Toronto-Dominion (TD) Centre has officially achieved WELL Core Certified™ Platinum status across all six of its office towers. This marks a historic milestone, making TD Centre the largest commercial complex in North America to achieve this elite level of health-focused certification under the WELL Building Standard.
The achievement follows TD Centre’s initial WELL Gold certification in 2022 and culminates CF’s decade-long commitment to human-centric building design and operations. With the addition of 16 York Street—also now WELL Core Certified™ Platinum—CF now holds the largest portfolio of Platinum-certified WELL buildings in Canada, and is the first to achieve WELL Core Platinum for existing buildings in the country.
The WELL Building Standard, managed by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), evaluates over 100 evidence-based strategies across 10 categories: Air, Water, Nourishment, Light, Movement, Thermal Comfort, Sound, Materials, Mind, and Community. These categories work together to promote occupant health, productivity, and well-being in built environments.
Sal Iacono, President and CEO of Cadillac Fairview, stated, “Achieving WELL Core Certified™ Platinum across the TD Centre and 16 York is a monumental source of pride and underscores our people-first commitment. It enhances long-term value by supporting health, wellness, and productivity for all occupants.”
Since 2015, CF has led the industry in adopting WELL principles. TD Centre’s 222 Bay Street was the first existing building in North America to receive WELL v1 Certification in 2017. 16 York initially achieved WELL Silver in 2021 before reaching Platinum in 2025.
