Bachelor of Construction Management graduate achieves professional Gold Seal Certification

Connor Chow, a Saskatchewan Polytechnic Bachelor of Construction Management (BCM) graduate is the only Professional, Gold Seal Certified (P.GSC) owner’s construction manager in Saskatchewan. This is the highest standard of excellence in the construction industry. “I wouldn’t be where I am today without Sask Polytech’s BCM program,” says Chow. “It gave me the skills needed to advance my career and allowed me to continue working throughout my studies. Ultimately, it allowed me to become one of only a few professional Gold Seal certification holders in Canada.”

As a young adult Chow had the ambitious career goal of becoming a professional architect. He hasn’t achieved that goal (yet) but has accomplished so much more. He has worked diligently to put the building blocks of his distinctive career together over the past 10 years and currently works as the national manager of construction projects at Western Surety Company.

Chow started his career journey at Sask Polytech. Growing up in Moose Jaw Chow was familiar with Sask Polytech and enrolled in the Architectural Technologies diploma program. After completing the Architectural Technologies diploma, Chow started working full time as an architectural technologist at Stantec and then a project manager at Walker Projects. Realizing that more education was the key to reaching his career aspirations, he continued his studies with Sask Polytech completing the Applied Project Management applied certificate and BCM degree.

“I have three credentials from Sask Polytech,” says Chow. “Sask Polytech has been beneficial to my career, it’s been a fantastic, local resource for me and a great place to learn.”

Chow was the first student to sign up for what at the time was Sask Polytech’s new BCM program and was a part of the first graduating cohort.
