August construction start for new Green Bay Health Centre in Newfoundland Labrador

SPRINGDALE, N.L. – If all goes according to plan, residents of the Green Bay region will have a new health care centre in Springdale in less than two years.

Health and Community Services Minister John Haggie announced today, July 11, construction will begin on the new Green Bay Health Centre next month.

He made the announcement in the boardroom at the current Green Bay Health Centre.

The new facility is expected to take 18 to 20 months to build, according to a department release.

“Once complete, this facility will provide high quality health care services and space for residents of Green Bay,” Haggie said.

The $12.6 million contract to construct the roughly 3,000-square-metre building was awarded to JMJ Holdings, the release noted.

The facility will include space for physicians’ clinics, diagnostic and laboratory services, rehabilitation, an emergency department and a nine-bed in-patient area.

“The new Green Bay Health Centre design will streamline patient flow with centralized registration, support collaborative health care teams with shared and flexible work spaces, and provide the infrastructure needed to support evolving and sustainable community-based health services,” said Central Health interim president and CEO Louise Jones.
