ACSA Names 2026 Alberta Construction Safety Excellence Awards Nominees

The Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA) has named 31 companies and three safety professionals as qualified nominees for the 2026 ACSA Safety Excellence Awards, recognizing organizations and individuals working to advance construction safety across Alberta.

The awards highlight continuous improvement in workplace safety and business performance, with nominees evaluated on leadership, worker involvement, risk mitigation, learning and performance monitoring.

Recipients will be announced during the ACSA Safety Excellence Awards Dinner on October 28, 2026, at the JW Marriott ICE District in Edmonton.

Recognizing Construction Safety Excellence in Alberta

The 2026 awards are presented across five categories: Small Employer, Small Employer Certificate of Recognition (SECOR), Certificate of Recognition (COR), National Health and Safety Administrator (NHSA) of the Year and National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) of the Year.

ACSA notes that all qualified submissions are evaluated against established award criteria, and qualification does not guarantee that an award will be presented.

Company awards recognize businesses of different sizes that demonstrate a commitment to integrating safety into daily operations and maintaining strong safety outcomes.

Small Employer Award for Excellence in Safety

Qualified nominees are Cross Country Mechanical Ltd., Grounded Contracting Ltd., McIntyre Crane & Rigging Ltd., Security Shutter Ltd., Sharptail Inspection Services, Sky-Tech Construction Ltd. and SweetTech Engineering Consultants.

The Small Employer category is available to companies with up to 19 employees.

SECOR Employer Award for Excellence in Safety

Evergreen Drilling 2018 Ltd. is the qualified nominee in the SECOR category, which recognizes employers with up to 10 employees participating in ACSA’s Small Employer Certificate of Recognition program.

ACSA’s Certificate of Recognition awards are divided according to company size.

Alberta Safety Professionals Recognized

The awards also recognize construction safety professionals who have contributed to workplace safety through project leadership, initiatives and involvement beyond their regular responsibilities.

Anthony Adefarakan and Rebecca Gill are qualified nominees for National Health and Safety Administrator (NHSA) of the Year.

Olusegun Odetundun is the qualified nominee for National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) of the Year.

ACSA CEO Mark Hoosein said the nominees demonstrate how leadership, employee participation, risk management and continued learning can contribute to stronger construction safety performance across companies of different sizes.

First Dave Hagen Construction Safety Scholarship

This year’s awards presentation will also include the inaugural Dave Hagen Construction Safety Scholarship.

ACSA partnered with the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) to establish the $1,000 scholarship in honour of former ACSA Board Director Dave Hagen.

The scholarship supports students pursuing careers in health and safety and is available to students enrolled in NAIT’s Occupational Health and Safety diploma program. Selection is based on academic achievement.
