Acelab has launched Materials Hub, an AI-powered platform designed to revolutionize how architects and designers discover, evaluate, and specify building materials. By combining artificial intelligence with a firm’s institutional knowledge, Materials Hub simplifies the complex process of material selection, ensuring choices align with performance, sustainability, and design goals.

The platform offers three core strengths:

1. Firm Library – Capturing and digitizing decades of expertise, enabling knowledge transfer across teams and preserving insights from senior architects.
2. AI-Powered Material Intelligence – Using natural language processing to deliver precise material recommendations based on aesthetics, performance, and sustainability.
3. Streamlined Decision-Making Workflow – Automating documentation, optimizing material choices, and integrating with existing firm processes.

Industry leaders like BIG, Stantec, SHoP, and AECOM have already embraced Materials Hub during early access trials. Experts, including Carol Ross Barney, praise its ability to enhance sustainability and design efficiency. The platform will be available for free to all architecture and design firms starting March 3rd. To mark the launch, Acelab is hosting Materials Month, a month-long exploration of material innovation in architecture.
