A promising new merger for Canadian architecture: Toronto’s GATarch joins Lemay

The architecture and design firm Lemay is excited to announce that the Toronto-based studio Giovanni Tassone Architect (GATarch) has now merged with its studios, a combination of creative minds and efforts which propels Lemay forward as a
leading source of Canadian design in the private markets sector.

“Joining Lemay is a thrilling opportunity for growth and shared success. This is a leap into a future where a blend of expertise, creativity and client networks will not only allow us to tackle larger projects but will pave the way for new successes and mutual growth,” says GATarch’s principal architect Giovanni Tassone.

Giovanni will take on the role of Principal – Private Markets to oversee Lemay’s national and international expansion into the private markets sector. He is joined by the skilled GATarch team of architects and architectural technologists, each taking on new roles within Lemay’s expanding transdisciplinary team of designers, creatives, and change-makers.

Since it was established in 2000, GATarch has made its mark with many institutional, residential, commercial, and interior projects in Ontario. With designs informed by Toronto’s rich cultural diversity, the GATarch studio’s passion for creating transcendent environments has resulted in exciting and experiential places to live and work, ranging most notably from the East United and the Logan Residences in downtown Toronto to the Symphony Condominiums and the economy bolstering industrial nodes and business parks of Addison Hall and Heart Lake in Brampton.

Among the many welcome projects to come from this merger, Lemay will expand its skillset in the designs of notable upcoming projects such as Urbacon’s 1128 Yonge and Blocks A and B of The Daniels Corporation’s Daniels MPV 2 in Brampton, Ontario, and integrate GATarch projects like 19 Toryork and Southwood into the fold of the Lemay portfolio alongside those previously mentioned and many others.

“With their inclusive and thoughtful approach to design, it feels only natural to now have Giovanni and his team as part of our growing firm. Our merger demonstrates a deepened, shared resolution to create sustainable and meaningful space to grow,” says Louis T. Lemay, president and excellence facilitator.

“Looking ahead to the developments to come from this merger, we’re excited and inspired by our shared commitment to transform the built world with sensitive and sustainable projects that will enhance our daily lives. Working together, we will no doubt open up new horizons for creativity and thought-provoking design,” adds Louis T. Lemay.

Now, together, Lemay can better serve communities by emboldening its full-service abilities and specializations in sustainability and transdisciplinary approaches to design excellence—an exciting new advancement for design, architecture, and construction communities both in Canada and abroad.
